MRI Guided transperineal biopsy

Australia’s first targeted safe biopsy of the prostate. Prof Stricker is amongst the first in Australia to pursue transperineal MRI ultrasound-fusion guided biopsy into the prostate. This uses advances in MRI imaging, fused with ultrasound. He recently confirmed that this was the safest biospy technique.

Prof Stricker went on to say that the MRI ultrasound-fusion guided biopsy minimised the risk of infection, improved the accuracy of sampling and minimised the number of biopsy cores required to establish a diagnosis of prostate cancer. Prof Stricker has now been trialling the technique for six months and now offers it as a standard of care to all his patients.
