A new study now approved to be launched internationally headed up by Professor Stricker for the treatment of failed radiotherapy using NanoKnife ablation (FIRE study).
This study which is an international, multicentre study headed up by Professor Stricker involving centres such as the Sloan-Kettering in New York, University College Hospital in London, Amsterdam Cancer Centre in the Netherlands and the Centre in New Zealand will be now accruing patients to assess the success rate of focal NanoKnife ablation which is a minimally invasive treatment in patients who have failed radiotherapy in their prostate. This is registered online and the first centre to be open for accrual is Professor Stricker’s centre in St Vincent’s with 50 patients to be treated in total and it is hoped that this will give another option for treatment in patients who have failed radiotherapy and also to be able to do it in a minimally invasive way.
