After having completed 250 cases where MRI’s were performed before biopsies on patients with raised PSA, the study concluded that if the MRI is negative, it is highly accurate. This suggests that perhaps one can avoid biopsies in this situation. Furthermore if the MRI is positive, it also improves the accuracy of targeting the tumour.
